JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring assigned machinery is running to required specifications. Packaging Machine Operator must work together with line leads and QA to ensure all required lot numbers and “best by” info is correct. Packaging Machine Operator conducts minor troubleshooting, makes minor adjustments, conducts assigned quality checks, reports safety and quality concerns to supervisor and/or manager,
trains assigned staff on equipment as directed by the supervisor or manager, other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Able to perform and document assigned quality and operational checks.
2.Timely and accurate completion of required documentation which may include quality checks, component usage, line performance, pallet tags, production tracking, etc.
3.Adjust equipment through HMI or using hand tools as necessary.
4.Loads materials or ingredients on machine as needed.
5.Troubleshoot and adjust equipment as needed to maintain good performance.
6.Ensure quality specifications are met by performing established quality checks such as carton seal check and code date checks.
7.Ensure materials being loaded on machine match the product specification.
8.Communicate with supervisor and/or manager for machinery, food, and safety concerns.
9.Plans breaks and lunch in a way that does not impact the line performance.
10.All staff are responsible for Compliance with all GMP, Food Safety and Plant Safety rules while in the processing facility. Staff are encouraged to report
Food Safety and Quality concerns immediately to their supervisors and Quality
representatives on shift.
11.Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent must have experience working with production
or packaging equipment in a food manufacturing environment. The packaging machine
operator must be able to multi-task and communicate effectively with the Line
Lead and Supervisor. The incumbent must be able to read and comprehend recipes
and formulas. Individuals should have
familiarity with lot codes and “use by” format. Bilingual/Spanish is a
plus. This position requires GMP’s and
company food safety programs training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Must wear assigned PPE including for example: safety footwear, hearing protection
and safety glasses.
2. Work in and out of variable temperatures including coolers and oven rooms.
3. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
4. At least 8 hours on feet standing or walking to workstation.
5. Ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend and reach to maneuver around equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works in a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery. Some tasks may require additional safety measures to ensure the safe completion of the task.
